Prof. Mateusz Koziej, MD, PhD, DSc

I am a plastic surgeon and I perform a full range of plastic surgery operations in the area of the face, the breast, the abdomen, as well as minimally invasive aesthetic medicine procedures.

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. As an academic teacher, I teach classes in clinical anatomy at the Department of Anatomy of the Jagiellonian University Medical College. I completed my specialization training at the Clinic of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Łódź. In 2023, I passed the State Specialization Examination in the field of plastic surgery.

Working in the Department of Anatomy is a perfect complement to the practical and theoretical knowledge used in my daily clinical practice.

I am constantly improving my operating techniques. So far, I have participated in numerous courses, trainings and conferences in the field of plastic surgery (Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy). I am a multiple scholarship holder of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the winner of the Laur Medyczny im. Dr. Wacław Mayzel awarded by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. I twice completed a clinical internship abroad at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. I am the author of numerous scientific publications published in the most renowned world journals in the field of plastic surgery, such as: Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery or Aesthetic Surgery Journal. My habilitation thesis concerned an anatomical map of facial artery variability, clinically useful in terms of the safety of plastic surgery and minimally invasive aesthetic medicine procedures.

I am the primary investigator of two research grants financed by the National Science Center.

I work with students, leading the Student Scientific Circle of Surgical Anatomy. In addition, I am a co-founder of the "YOUTHORIA" foundation (youthoria.eu) supporting the development of young scientists.
