LIPOSUCTION SURGERY (ABDOMINAL)

Mateusz Koziej MD, PhD, DSc - plastic surgeon

Abdominal liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from the abdominal area. Indications for this procedure include:

•   Excess fat in the abdominal area that does not respond to diet and regular physical activity.
•   Disproportionate accumulation of fat around the abdomen, which affects the figure and self-esteem.
•   No clear definition of the waistline due to the presence of adipose tissue.
•  No medical contraindications.

Abdominal liposuction is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon. The procedure usually requires local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent and preference of the patient. The procedure begins with making small incisions in specific places on the abdomen. The surgeon then inserts a thin tube (cannula) under the skin into the fatty tissue, which is used to gently suck out excess fat. The movements of the cannula are precise and focused on body contouring to achieve the desired effect. After liposuction is complete, the incisions are closed with sutures or dressings.

Following abdominal liposuction, it is important to follow your plastic surgeon's instructions to ensure an optimal recovery process. The following are general recommendations:

•   Using prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs as directed by the surgeon.
•   Wearing a special compression garment for the abdomen for a certain period of time after surgery to aid healing and maintain the modeled shape.
•   Avoiding physical activity, lifting weights and effort for 6 weeks after the procedure.
•   Securing the incision site with appropriate dressings
•   Adherence to wound hygiene recommendations

After recovery from abdominal liposuction, patients typically experience a reduction in fat volume and an improvement in abdominal shape. The expected effects are:

•   Reduction of waist circumference and improvement of abdominal contours.
•   Clearly outline the abdominal muscles and improve the definition of the waist line.
•   Improvement of body proportions and body shape.

Please note that the results of the procedure may vary depending on the individual anatomical features of the patient. Before deciding on abdominal liposuction, it is always recommended to consult a plastic surgeon who will carefully assess the individual case, present the expected results and the potential risks associated with the procedure.
