Plastic surgeon Kraków Prof., MD, PhD Mateusz Koziej
I specialise in plastic surgery of the face and breasts. I teach at the Department of Anatomy of the Jagiellonian University Medical College, which perfectly complements the practical and theoretical knowledge I use in my everyday clinical work.
The consultation allows for a reliable assessment of suitability for surgery, including whether the operation can deliver a result in line with the patient’s expectations, while maintaining the highest possible safety standards.
Selected procedures
Below are selected procedures. You can find the other procedures under “Treatments” in the menu at the top of the page.
The path to surgery
The consultation allows you to make an informed decision about the procedure. During the consultation, we assess whether the procedure meets the patient’s needs and can deliver the expected result, and we discuss the course of recovery and the healing process.
An initial online consultation based on submitted photos is also possible.
Description of the problem
You can use the form to send photos of your face along with a description of the results you expect from the procedure. A reply will be sent to your email address.
Initial assessment
Based on the description and photos, I make an initial assessment and suggest possible treatment techniques. The assessment also covers whether the procedure is the right solution in your case.
Consultation
A consultation meeting at the clinic. It includes a reassessment and a full examination with the relevant measurements. The treatment plan, potential risks and recovery process are discussed in detail.
Surgery and follow-ups
Procedures under general anaesthesia are performed in the operating theatre with an anaesthesia team. Smaller procedures may be performed under local anaesthesia in a treatment room. Follow-up visits are then scheduled.
Professor and specialist
in plastic surgery
I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University, and completed my specialist training at the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Łódź.
I passed the National Specialisation Examination in plastic surgery. I perform surgery in Kraków. In my practice I use modern, proven plastic surgery techniques, selecting them individually to suit each patient’s needs and medical indications. That is why several times a year I take part in training courses and meetings with leading experts abroad, comparing my own knowledge and experience with their practice. I also host plastic surgeons from around the world, sharing my knowledge and experience with them.
Working at the Department of Anatomy, Jagiellonian University Medical College complements my practical and theoretical knowledge, particularly of the complex layered anatomy of the face. I obtained my habilitation based on research into the variability of facial arteries. I was awarded the title of professor of medical sciences by the President of Poland.
Anatomy is not just theory for an exam. It is the map I navigate by during surgery.

FAQ
In this section we have gathered answers to the most frequently asked general questions. Information on specific procedures can be found in the relevant sections.
What does the first consultation look like?
During the consultation, a full examination of the patient is carried out. We assess whether the procedure meets the patient’s needs and can deliver the expected result, and discuss the course of recovery and the healing process. The patient receives all the information needed to understand the entire treatment process. The decision about the procedure can be made after the consultation; it does not have to be made during the first visit.
Is the procedure itself painful? What type of anaesthesia will I receive?
Depending on the type and scope of the procedure, operations are performed under general or local anaesthesia. The type of anaesthesia is chosen individually to ensure the greatest possible comfort for the patient throughout the procedure. During the hospital stay, the patient remains under the care of the anaesthesia and nursing team. After the procedure, appropriate pain relief is provided, and the patient receives recommendations on further care and recovery.
How long does recovery and the return to normal life take?
It depends on the procedure. The recovery time and the point at which the result can be assessed are listed on each treatment page, and detailed recommendations are provided after the operation.
What will the scars look like?
Every incision leaves a scar. Incisions are planned so that scars are as inconspicuous as possible, usually in natural skin creases. Scar care recommendations are given after the procedure and may include appropriate moisturising, laser therapy or aesthetic physiotherapy.
Is everyone eligible for surgery?
No. Health status, medications taken, the patient’s expectations regarding the results and the initial anatomy are the deciding factors. The patient will be informed if the procedure may not bring a real and expected benefit. Contraindications for individual procedures are described on the relevant treatment pages.
