Brow lift
About the procedure
Over time, skin loses elasticity, which may lead to drooping eyebrows and a change in facial expression. The face may appear tired, and the eyes may look sad or weighed down. Brow lift is a surgical procedure aimed at raising the eyebrows and restoring their natural position, with improvement in forehead proportions.
Brow lift is performed both as a standalone procedure and in combination with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery or forehead lift. The operation may be performed using various techniques, depending on the individual needs of the patient and the degree of eyebrow drooping.
Indications
- drooping eyebrows causing changes in facial expression,
- eyebrow asymmetry,
- excess skin on the upper eyelids, which may limit the field of vision,
- desire to rejuvenate and refresh the appearance of the face.
The procedure
Preparation
The decision to undergo the treatment is made individually after a consultation, taking into account the patient’s expectations and anatomical conditions.
How the procedure is performed
The brow lift procedure involves gently lifting the eyebrows and restoring their natural position. Depending on the needs, different methods are used:
- Classic brow lift: incisions in the skin along the hairline, which allow for precise lifting and shaping of the eyebrows. During this lift, excess skin is removed and the work is done on the superficial tissue layers.
- Endoscopic brow lift: a method using small incisions and an endoscopic camera.
- Direct brow lift: a strip of skin above the eyebrow is removed, which at the same time reduces the proportions of the forehead.
The procedure usually lasts from 1 to 2 hours and is performed under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery. The incisions are placed along the hairline, so the scars are hidden within it. A brow lift is often a component of a Deep Plane Face Lift.
Aftercare
After the procedure, minor swelling and bruising may occur, which usually subside within a few days. Mild discomfort may also be experienced, which can be alleviated with painkillers. Skin irregularities and depressions may occur during the first few weeks after the procedure. In addition, temporary weakness of the forehead muscles may occur, which recovers after a few weeks. Most patients return to their daily activities after about a week, depending on the healing rate.
The final result is assessed after a few weeks, once the tissues have fully healed. The effect is long-lasting, although the natural ageing process of the skin continues.

All results →Frequently asked questions
How long does the effect of a brow lift last?
The effect of a brow lift lasts shorter than that of other facial surgery procedures, because the movements of the eyelid muscles naturally pull the eyebrows downwards.
Is a brow lift painful?
The procedure is performed under anaesthesia, so you will not feel pain during it. After surgery, you may experience mild discomfort, which is relieved with painkillers.
Are the scars after the procedure visible?
The incisions are placed in the hairline, so once healed, the scars are hidden within it.
When can I return to work?
Most patients return to normal activity after about a week, depending on the rate of healing.
